Looking for a small truck
« on: August 28, 2012, 11:31:03 AM »
Hey guys - my car is breathing its last breaths and I am looking for a small truck, like a Ford Ranger size.  I probably need an extended cab version, but other than that I am open to anything.  Also, similar sized trucks like the Chevy S-10, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Dodge Dakota, etc.  If you know anyone with a good truck for sale, please let me know...

Thx!

Todd

In the small truck I'd stick with Nissan and Toyota.

Yeah, been all over the Carmax website lately.  I also have a friend who is a broker looking for me.  Just putting out as many 'feelers' as I can.

Thx!

Buy a Toyota.  My 4runner turned 200k this morning and I bet another 100k is no problem. 8)

Everybody and their brother is looking to downsize truck (and cars).  Leading to lots of bargains on fullsize trucks.  Depending on your usage, it might be worth it to get a fullsize (at a discount) and pay more in gas bill for a few years vs paying a premium for a small truck (and having a smaller fuel bill).  I know I went from a 5-spd, 6 cyl pickup to a Yukon and made enough money on the deal to pay for gas for the next 5+ years  (and I am much happier in the Yukon).

Three weekends ago at 4 am a lady driving a 07 Yukon Z71 fell asleep while driving and ran down the steep embankment in front of my house at a very high rate of speed. How that vehicle didn't roll over going down the 45 deg embankment is a miracle. After surviving the embankment it jumped two ditches and ended up on the driveway headed up the hill. She woke up at that point but couldn't stop before rear ending a Mercury Mountaineer parked at the top of the driveway. It then pushed the Mercury 20' past where it was parked and into a tree. Both vehicles were 100% totaled and I had to use everything I had to pry the driver door open to get the lady out. I was just glad she was ok and my daughter and I didn't have to witness what I thought for sure was going to be a horrific scene.
Every fireman, Trooper, County cop, EMT, that showed up on the scene said they had seen some crazy stuff in their years of service and her walking away from that crash was one of them. I stand by my assessment that not many other vehicles would have saved that ladies life.Sure, it gets crappy mileage but how much is your life worth?

Ps if you take Ambien, hide your keys….

Not as much as a monthly payment. ;D
