 agreed!!! I love my canoe, 16' old town squareback, 55# tm and a good agm battery, all for under a grand,  HARD TO BEAT!!

I strongly disagree.  I've owned a lot of small boats and the very last thing I would suggest to a new boat owner on TN waters is a damn canoe.  True, the best canoe with the best pilot is about as good as it gets with an open boat.  This is not that guy. He's an Alabama fan FFS.  This guy needs a boat.

I deleted my original post as to why, but Bfish has solid advice here.  You need three very good boats and you can do that for around $5k.  If you do it right, these three boats can be used as recreational boats on bigger waters with one tow vehicle.
