Tube Head Fly
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:11:45 AM »
Playing around with a new idea to add a bulky head on musky flies without crowding the hook point.  Will hopefully get to test this design out if Wed rains and freezing temps don't ruin the fishing.

I like it but is there any reason not to tie the whole thing on a tube and drop a big circle hook off the back?  This is what I have done in the past and have had great success with hookups and easy hook removal.  I guess this would only work with a single hook rig though.

I've tied several tube musky flies and used a sp 4/0 off the back. They don't foul and fished surprisingly well. Didn't get a fish on one yet but having the hook in the back seems like a great concept.
