Not meaning to hijack....
Some guys on the Little Red are running the Skiff with 25 hp converted jets like yours.  This seems ideal since I have found some rocky ramps into prime musky water that involve winching the boat on dry land to the trailer.  Boat seems to plane well, just not sure if its enough power for a 500 lb hull.

If I go with the 40/30 Yami, I get more power, but about 70-100 more pounds of weight, which limits the maneuvers I can do to drag the boat over ledges and dry land.
I get the boat first week of April, then the work begins.

I will have a chain hoist, so I can switch motors.

Man, for a boat that heavy I'd keep the Crawdad for the long drags and aggressive ramps and put a 40/30 on her...

What Dave said.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

I ran the 25/20 on my sled, it had the narrower floor, still ran fast enough with 3 people & all the gear for a day of fishing.
The older 2 strokes will still push more power than the 4 strokes of today, they're lighter, noisier & smellier though.

As you know not a one do all boat or anything for that matter. The Yammie 30 I rode in back when Glenn had it was powerful.

My 25 Mercury was no slouch, 40 is even better. I'd buy my 40 again in a heart beat.

I was worried about going to a 4 stroke, loss of some power and all that, but I have to say i would do it again. I think the trade off between a small loss of power, and a little weight,to not have the  Noise and smelly smoke, is a good trade off. JMO

You can always just push the boat off the trailer. .....
Getting your feet wet defeats the purpose of having a trailer boat.  ;D

We've made it safely.  Sleep is near, although its hard to catch a wink knowing there's a boat down the road that needs some fish slime on it.
