Supreme L48 ramblings
« on: February 16, 2013, 10:09:14 PM »
Thursday I had a long talk with Rob the owner of Supreme, he remembered me, been by his shop twice for 2 and 3 hour visits.

Told him I had sold the tin boat so he knew I was finally a possible buyer instead of a looker.

We talked about what I wanted in a boat, he said he would build anything a person wanted unless it was way out in left field and not useful from their past experience.
I ask for a line item quote on

L48 Supreme
Jet transom
front pedestal
trolling block
wire tube
rod trays
48" front deck
54" front deck
36" rear deck
48" rear deck
mid range trailer
deluxe trailer

Boat comes standard with a 30" front deck and 22" rear deck. Rob couldn't believe I didn't want any seats much less a drivers seat. For anyone who hasn't been to the White River, it is wide. I drove the boat I just sold either sitting down on casting platform or on my knees. Figure to do this one the same unless you can tell me I'm wrong.

Rob said on the 48" rear deck would have to talk to his shop help to see if it was feasible, from the quote it is ;)

I was hoping for him to say he could do the 48", but if he wouldn't was going to go with the 22", get a YETI cooler and have him put down hardware in the floor to hold it in place.

So, I'm getting the the L48---rod trays

54" front deck
48" rear deck

TRAILERS ?????

mid grade is Mikes trailer, I've drooled over it a few times looking at his boat lately (doing my research) I hear Steve has the deluxe trailer as did Grumpy.

question, is the deluxe just the mid grade with fancy lazer SUPREME cuts with lights behind it or does it have a value added feature I don't see in photos ?

Colors, Rob has in the mail, samples of the glitter of the Gun Metal, Navy Blue, and Forest Green for my family to ponder,  but the Black is growing on me.

See anything I'm missing in the ultimate river boat ?

Congratulations on building your dream river boat!

If you have a particular leaning, I would not care what others think.

It's your dream boat, dress it up like you want it.  Your family wants it to be like you want it.

Black FWIW.

The only trailer upgrade I would consider would be a galvanized for salt trips and to ensure the trailers good looks lasts as long as the boats.

I'd get the largest deck you can rear and front.

SS Rails are awesome and handy for all kinds of reasons.

Rolled edges with the rope rub rail. I Don't think they make a boat without rolled edges.

Tell them to not drill any holes in the boat for side boxes or transom. You don't want live wells.

Rod trays both sides.

No permanent seats anywhere. You can use spider seats when you need em or leave em when you don't.

Line X has worked awesome on my Supreme. I wouldn't hesitate applying it again should I ever need to buy another Supreme, which is unlikely. I can still push my boat off the trailer in shallow water. It's easier with two people but I can do it alone if I have to. I don't know how many mph I lost but it wasn't bad compared to the protection Line X provides.

Buy a piece of 1X10 Aluminum L for a spray deflector. .

No jack plate. Do it right the first time. Optimum placement isn't hard to find (if you know what your doing) and the setback on a jack plate puts the intake in less clean water.

I think most boat riggers are going to try to put the foot too low so that the reverse works best. F --- that, raise that bitch up and tuck it in the tunnel nice and tight. Put the L bracket on the transom about 1" above the jet foot and your set. Reverse still works, it's just slower. Don't drill the transom till you get that right. I rigged my outboard by myself and I've never turned the bolts since. I used a floor jack to get the motor where it needed to be then drilled it. Use the 3M Marine Grade Silicone Sealant below the waterline.

Thats it. Now add water and enjoy and thanks for supporting a company that helps support this site.

You've nailed most of it, Black!

I have the mid grade trailer on my rig, I can send pics but I believe they are on the board here.

Sam you and I are from different planets. I'm thinking more like air suspension, drop her to the ground at Happy Hollow without driving 3/4 across river.

SS rails are standard

I forgot to include in my rant, dry boxes all the way

Rob told me to bring both motors, says he has a guy that is the jet God over that way, I will pick his brain, when I went to get my 25hp a few years back, had it so low looked like a single row tater rooter, had them to raise it 4 or so inches before I left their shop.

Rub rails are standard

getting two rod trays

no seats, just a 7 x 7 up front for a butt seat for us ole farts to lean against when we get tired.

I can't get BLACK out of my head, I got to thinking today about the gazillion Supremes I've seen the last few years, there is one that always sticks out, black boat with yellow stripes, has Mercury 40hp Jet, has custom yellow decals on motor, sweet looking ride.

Rob said they don't make this boat anymore, true flat bottom, not classic Supreme rockered rear
