Really really cheap spinning outfit

That isn't a slouch for under $30!
I needed something to save the custom spinning rods I built from Kayak trip carnage. For me, kayak fishing has been hard on my gear so I don't want to take my good stuff on river floats.

I found these on Amazon.

Shimano Solara rod. Its some sort of aeroglass fiberglass rod that isn't the most sensative but enough to get the job done and for < $15 a steal!

Shimano IX1000R IX Rear Drag Spin Reel

I had these reels as a kid and paid alot more for them back then. I loved them then and I still do today. The one hand bail open(quickfire) system is nice when you have a paddle in one hand. Again < $12

I had a bad run with shimano spinning reels, the kept binding up when the got dunked (and they do kayak fishing).  It was several different models priced from $40-100.  After that I went to other brands and have not had an issue.

My rods that I hand over to others to use in a kayak is typically Berkely Cherrywood or Lightning.  Decent rod for the money.
