This place is hell
« on: September 16, 2013, 04:45:06 PM »
We floated a backcountry river this weekend and it was several miles of slick rock ,boat dragging hell. Our reward day one was seeing a few fish, one a really fat 50" Musky. I pussed out on fishing Sunday but Travis and Dave decided to push on for a couple hours. It paid off. I'll let Travis andDave share the story, if they want to. I didn't take anything but an iphone and I only caught a few Bass so no fish pics from me...

some random iphone images
Our camp

Sausage over campfire. So good even the Sun was trying to get a taste.

Remote unmolested waters

This was some very good beer. I'm seeking a place to buy this if anyone knows where to find it in the boro let me know.

NY Strips over the campfire and eggs for breakfast.

Water looks fishy, food looks tasty...

I do know you can find that beer at Davis Market in the boro, at least they had it there last time I was in a week or 2 ago.

I accidentally left my iPhone on and when I really, really needed the camera on Sunday it was totally dead. Glad Travis had his charged up.

That first fish was bigger than 50. Maybe not as big as BullShark, but pretty fricking big. I'll be back soon...

Caldera from Oregon, awesome IPA, when Tom brought me my first QUALITY beer back in a can, this is the one I was thinking about in the other thread about can versus bottle

Across from YMCA in the boro, Woody's beside Academy Cool Springs

I'm still having some crazy flashbacks of the whole experience.  Had a total blast guys.  Loved the experience, complete with the doubts of making it to the takeout before dark, and with all joints still intact.  It's a wonder none of us wound up with a concussion or fracture. Thanks for all the great cooking, and letting me borrow the board.  Still can't believe I managed to land that gator, probably never would have happened without Dave to tow my board to the bank with the fish still in battle.

Finally broke the 50" mark.  Still can't believe it.

This bad boy grabbed sideways and intentionally gave my right (ungloved) thumb a swift Chomp! when I wasn't looking.   It doesn't look like much, but those fang teeth jabbed pretty deep. Thank God it was a quick nip, and he didn't headshake.  I'm very lucky to be able to do dentistry today.  Just his way of letting me know he could really get me if he wanted to.

I'll never forget it.
