and even more Kayak questions

My bud Tom Gray moved to Bend Oregon about 6 months ago.

Has many, many high elevation lakes near him.

Looking for a craft to fish the lakes and use to cross the Deschutes to get to other bank to wade.

I told him you guys would have some info.

For lake fishing especially fly fishing I'd look hard at a Freedomhawk.
Also the Hobie line of boats with built in propulsion would be nice on as well.

I'd seriously think about a lightweight inflatable kayak or paddleboard if I lived out there. Too many awesome lakes that you can't just drive to...

True, he took a boat ride with a neighbor a few weeks ago that had an inflatable Hobie

but, many life times of GREAT water that he can drive to.

I've had an old Aire Lynx II inflatable for the past 10 years or so and love the stability and durability of these boats.  Mine is a self bailing whitewater version that's great on moving water but absolutely sucks on lakes as it has no skegs or keel line of any kind. 

Boatstogo.com sells very high quality inflatables at about half the cost of an Aire.  I think I'm going to sell my Aire and buy one of these.  Been eyeing them for a while and they keep getting better.

For mountain lakes a Water Master might be a good option for moving around.
