Two potential all tackle record muskies caught....
« on: December 12, 2013, 02:09:53 PM »
I don't know how many of us realize that the IGFA keeps records for catch and release records for various species. Position is awarded based on fish length rather than weight.  Anyway - this came across my path today. Apparently there were two potential world record (release) muskies caught and submitted recently.  Here is a link to the information about these catches and photos of the fish:

Just for what it's worth a local angler was awarded the all tackle world  record (length) striper a few months ago...the fish came from local waters and that's all I'm gonna say about that!  :P  Something tells me that record will fall before too much longer though as people become more aware of this category of IGFA records.

The muskie catch and release sounds good, but damn! those charter captains should know better on how to revive a fish.  I'm sure they measured and photographed it much quicker than with say two people....but I still feel they overstressed the fish, and made no attempt to work out the lactic acid.

It's not worth an entry in any damn record book if you kill a trophy fish to get it.
