So who got to fish the Fly South 'Bass on the Fly tournament'?

How'd you do?

Who's the hot shot for the day?

There were several folks that showed up. I'd leave out a bunch so I won't even try to name them all.

Bill Price and I got first thanks to Bill's knowledge of Bass movements on the lower lake ;). I don't remember who got second but I know Brian Dunigan got third.

Bill caught several 14"ers and two solid keepers. I caught one measurable fish (and lost one at the boat), luckily for me it was a good urn and I got the big fish with a 4.4 pound Largmouth. The big fish prize was a G Loomis Cross Current 9' 6wt  ;D. Jim also raffled off two Ross reels :o and various other very nice prizes. It was a great time but I think we might have created a monster. Bill and I borrowed a 19' Triton with a 225 Merc on it and I think Bill might have caught the Tournament bug again.  I think he's having thoughts from the darkside...  Good thing is, after gas hits $6 a gallon we might get him back....

Fun event.

Thumper and I tied for fifth place, along with the other 5 boats that didn't weigh any fish!!  ;D

I think that's right anyway. I think only 4 boats brought fish to the scales.

We couldn't seem to put a keeper over the rail.

Caught ours on everything from streamers to little black bunny strip I was crawling along the bottom like a plastic worm.

Fun day.

EDIT- By the way, I won one of the Ross reels as a door prize. It's a Flywater 3. Built for 5, 6 and 7 wt lines.  Now I need a rod to go with it!!

The Fly South crew put together a nice registration bag including a couple of new Loomis caps and some decals/bumper stickers.

All in all, I came out ahead just for showing up to fish. I expect things will get even better for the upcoming events.

Affordable entry fee, good registration goodies, good door prizes and a 100% payback. Try one, you'll like it.
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."
