Got a tough start Sunday, tired from staying up in a clinch watching Bama pull out a nail biter......ROLL TIDE!!!! I got on the road...

I stopped for gas early at the neighborhood station.... First really good move of the day......After filling the truck and boat with gas, my truck wouldn't start!!!!

After being rescued by Jennifer and a bit of battery maintenance, I was back on the road!!

I met Dave at the water around 9:45, we launched and made a short run up river.

(And no...as much as it looks like it Dave was not taking a leak off the front of the boat!!)
We started our drift back and it was ON almost immediately!! We had one come unbuttoned in the first few minutes, there was so much action, I can't even remember which one of us it was!! shortly after I spotted a likely boulder with an inviting eddy behind it, i called it and then cast...strip strip boom!!!! there he was!! but I didn't get a good hookset!! I threww back at him and he ate again! Fish #1 for the day in the boat!!

As we continued our float i decided to "throw a top water until something happened" I have never caught one on top....( I guess because I always lose confidence quickly) Well this time was different!!! Again, I saw a likely looking bank..and called it...."Topwater Musky in the side pocket"!!!! BOOM!!! This fish engulfed a 10" long popper like it was a wooly bugger!! Barely even a feather hanging out of it's mouth!!

and then it was Daves turn

And then I missed one!!! And then it was Daves turn again!!!

And then I moved a beast...a smart one.. she wouldn't eat though!
At this point we had drifted back to where we launched, so we had lunch!! My son and I have a tradition... every year we make Jambalaya for the Alabama/ LSU game, so I brought lunch!!

And then I blew it again!!
And Daves turn again!!
Number 5 in the boat!!
We had many other follows.. and a few other takes....EPIC DAY in Musky Country!!
