Merritt Ridge Trail
« on: January 31, 2015, 10:15:31 PM »
Made it out with Jennifer today to one of our favorite trails at Edgar Evans. Six months ago she had a complete knee replacement on her right knee and is now able to hike like before! Looks like we will be able to visit the Smokies in a couple of months.

This is a steep hike and takes you up through some of the largest oak and beech I have ever seen. Pictures can't really show their size.

The trails winds down along the lake and back up until you reach a nice exposed point.

Made lunch out of the wind with a new alcohol stove. I have used this stove a few times since Christmas and am really impressed with its functionality(hassle free) and design. Compact and light as a feather. Perfect for a day out.

Here is a shot of our lunch view……

The lake has miles of hiking with the winter pool. This trail is a good one to try if you have been looking for a close local hike to get in shape for summer.

I like that loop too, a very fun hike.

Evernew makes great products. I love using an alcohol stove, fast, fun and light.
