Jennifer and I decided to head down to the river with my cousin and his wife.
We had to portage around a rough patch of water with two loaded kayaks and a canoe to start out our trip.
The quick water made for some fun paddling.
Made our first campsite after dark and after 12 miles of water behind us.
Early next morning all the work started to pay off!
Our second camp was a bit more relaxing.
Paddled on for a third day and stopped to take in the scenery.
The trip ended after 27 miles and we were already planning our next trip.

You guessed the location, but we saw no muskie or walleye. The water was still off color from the recent heavy rains.

This has been an unusual year and we have seen only 2 water snakes this year.

Looks like a fun time except the biting flies and all the other biting insects that inhabit that place. They can be brutal down there. Great report!

I want to go.... when it cools off a little more. Backpacked the area several times with the children but never floated. Would be a great close to home trip to get ready for BWCA. Thanks for taking us along.
