ELK 09/07/15
« on: September 09, 2015, 04:03:21 PM »
Floated from Hurdlow to Old Dam Ford 09/07/15. Water clear, cooler than past years, plenty of weeds, flow 240 CFS. I have been fishing the Elk since 1988 and have never encountered the number of boats with fisherman that I encountered on 09/07/15. There weren't a lot of "party people" like usual at the Hurdlow Bridge just plenty of good old boys & girls fishing the river. On the positive ran into several good hatches of an unknown surface bug...most of the fly fisherman I met were using 14 Adams and olive wooly boogers. All seem to be catching fish. Cooler water this year has created a better than usual fish bite further down stream. Ran into a few fish with great color. All rainbows-no browns caught.

Now that's a nice trip report.  I might have missed an earlier post but what boat did you end up with?

They're spilling 1000 CFS now, don't think that's going to last long though. I've been hearing good report's myself.
The Caney has been slow, hopefully the cooler weather will help.
