Priest exploratory trip.
« on: September 07, 2016, 09:57:48 AM »
Spent some time on Priest yesterday. Looks to me like the lake is turning? Black bits of bottom grunge all over the lake. I didn’t see a lot of Shad on the surface which I thought was odd for this time of year. I was near the pool knob area. There were shad there just not the numbers I’m used to seeing this time of year. I’ve noticed there are still large schools of shad in the rivers still. I’m going to fish the Jefferson spring, spring creek, mona, west fork, areas next and see if maybe there’s some fish there. I’m looking for indications that the fall Hybrid run is about to begin. It’s been years since I focused on the lake. The big flood really screwed the Hybrid population in the areas I fish. Hopefully they have recovered and will be easier to pattern again in the areas closer to my house. I prefer to avoid the lower end.

My old carp flats were non existent due to the drought. The flats stayed dry this year through early/mid summer due to the drought, and they are once again covered in vegetation. Seems the last 6 years it’s been either an Environmental or a manmade crisis on just about every great fishery I enjoy in the mid state.

Got a lot of time behind the camera due to the lack of fishing so I’ll post some of that up later.

I went back out yesterday and covered several miles. There's tons of Shad back in all the rivers but I didn't see any fish activity. Not even any Bass. It's still early.
I've got to get a new graph on the boat... Haven't needed one for years but I plan to get back to lake fishing more and a good graph is a must.  What's cool is graphs have come soooo far in the last 5 years or so. Kinda excited to start shopping.

I'm ready Sam. Let's get out a few afternoons after work.

Yes.  I'm around from Wednesday on.

Which graph did you get?  I want a small one for the Gheenoe.  My buddy just got one for his Towee (can't remember the make/model).
Fish on!
