kept a flats boat Bahamas  for many years.  Not much "self guided" or "easy to walk to" bone fishing down there that is worth the trip anymore.  Just too much pressure on all easily accessible flats IMO.  Some fish on all those places but they are so heavily fished that they truly become impossible to catch.  If you have a boat to use you can self guide and find places to wade on some islands , but generally the  native guides are not open to sharing.  fwiw

Yep, kind of like tarpon. Way over done, and everyone is doing it. Or musky. Or carp. Or sailfish on the fly. Or trout. Screw it, might as well stay at home on the sofa and watch old reruns of TV fishing shows...

  I was not  saying stay home?  No, what I was saying  was its not as easy as renting a villa and walking out the front door to bonefish.  It has changed a lot from the days when you could  do that.  You cannot just go anywhere in the Bahamas and find decent bone fishing.  Just like you cannot go anywhere  in Tenn and catch musky or anywhere in Florida and catch tarpon.  I would suggest doing some serious homework and research before you embark on a trip to the Bahamas if fishing is your primary basis for the trip. ... be glad to point you in the right direction.

Ha ha I guess everyone uptight because of the election season. Remember this isn't fakebook so we can be real here. I know Dave has done this a few times with success and is partially the reason for my inquiry. I'd love to hear more from you too Bee, or anyone with suggestions.

I stayed @ seascape inn (seascapeinn.com in Andros, and used a great independent guide - Mark Bastian, mark-Bastian.com) Mickey and Joan @ Seascape are great folks - expat New Yorkers! From January to late May you can wade the flats in front of their B&B, and catch bones. PM me if you care for specifics.

Driftwood and I went to Galodos and it was blast.  The most inexpensive place you could stay at, the TV was awful, but the fishing was amazing.  They took us to the very s. tip of the island to the middle of the island, the guides worked hard, and stayed out from daylight to dusk.  When you got back the food was amazing and by the end of the week we had the guides jack fishing with us at night in the inlet.  S. Andros is an amazing place that have double digit bones that are willing to eat.  The people are great, and the overall culture is from the early 80's--so I have been told, and the kalik beer is quite tasty as well .  At that time no cell phones, just people talking to people.  And yes, if you wanted to DYI- on that island its not very hard to figure out.  Just watch out for the tax man, he swims very fast
