Shellcracker info??
« on: May 10, 2006, 08:00:57 AM »
I sure would like to get into some Shellcracker action but I really don't know where to go. I have caught those huge Bluegill on Fall Creek Falls lake in 20' of water and a few Shellcrackers on the lake at standing stone but never on Old Hickory. Would anybody be willing to share info on where to find these fish and how to catch them?

Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

No.   ;D

Seriously, I got into some decent ones in mid-May on Old Hickory last year.  Mostly around grass beds on the lower end of the lake, in the vicinity of Drake's Creek.  Shallow flats with some gravel on the bottom seems to be the key.  They don't seem to take a fly as well as a regular bluegill - you just about have to use crickets or worms to catch them consistently.
