White River Trip
« on: January 07, 2007, 04:37:04 PM »
I've got 3 days of vacation I got to burn before March 31st. I work weekends and this will give me an 11 days off.

I could possible see a few days trip to the White/Norfolk area. Maybe a bunch from the board , do a get together is possible?

I think I could do a few days.

I went in Oct with 7 others, I could only stay 4 days, they did 8 days, my cost was less than $170, that was 4 nights of the cabin at Rileys Station, 2 days of boat rental and all meals.

Maybe more will chime in and we can do a trip.

I can get most weekends off in Jan/Feb, and a few in March, those 7 others are wanting me to go with them March 10-18 to the Sowbug Round-Up but my 5 year old is out of school for spring break, my daughter teaches at his school and would keep him that week, but I spend all the time I can with him, my other two are grown and gone and don't know where the time went, looking back.

Throw some dates at me and I will check. I'd figure later in Feb.

Feb is the last month of winter rates and I usually go the last week in Feb. You never know what to expect weather wise, short sleeves one year and 8" of snow the next.

What's the drive time from Nashville?
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

3.5-4 hrs from my driveway.  Can you believe, I have only fished it once.  My New Years Resolution is to fish it at least twice this year.

Okie,

I literally live on the bank of the Elk River tailwater and am ruined since going out and fishing it. Going to Yellowsone does the same thing to me. Takes me a short spell after a "road" trip to get interested in the Elk again.

When I was out, I was thinking about how may people live so close and probally fish it couple of more times a year. Kind of like a good job or wife, don't know what you have until it's gone, sometimes.

Thanks. That ain't so far. Course, it's twice as far as Okieff!!  ;D

I sure wish I could plan on going over there then. It's just hard to tell for me.

Deb wants to go to Florida this summer, I want to go to Montana this summer, (and Colorado  ;D ) We just had Christmas, Deb's birthday was on the 30th, our Anniversary is next week, grandbaby girl's birthday on the 30th of Jan, then it's Valentine's, then it's my mother's birthday, then it's step-son's birthday, then in March, .........uughhhhh.

I think I'll just have a couple snorts of the Buffalo Trace and go to bed. That list is depressing.  :-[

If you guys get this worked out, let me know.  All I need is a couple of weeks lead time.  This might push me to fish it for the first time this year.
