Walleye, Muskies & Smallies
« on: August 01, 2019, 09:46:40 PM »
Hey folks,
Haven't posted in forever.  Was thinking of you all a couple of weeks ago while fishing Lake St. Clair in MI.  Caught a couple of muskie.  Nothing huge, but sure were fun.  Caught a limit of walleye and had a terrific fish fry.  The topper was that I was blessed to enjoy it all with my Dad, Step son, and grandson.
I'd post some pictures, but am not sure how since Photobucket has started to charge for storage, which I don't feel like paying for.
Headed to Canada for the annual smallie trip in a couple of weeks.  Can't wait.

Hope all is well with you.
Fred

Nice fish and great memories fishing with your family!  I can't wait to hear about your smallie trip.  I'll be headed up to the Smokies at the end of September for my semi-annual trout fishing trip with my brother.  He recently acquired an Airstream so our wives are coming on this trip.  We'll see how that goes. :o

Well, spent a week in southern Ontario chasing river smallies with a couple of buddies.
Have been customizing a new trailer for the trip and loved the way it turned out.  (pic attached)
Water levels in the rivers were crazy low which is weird since the Great Lakes are at their highest levels in recent memory.  That made for a lot of boat dragging across river rock.  The upside was that it concentrated the fish in the deep holes.

We caught our share of healthy smallmouth.  No monsters to speak of, but all three of us caught plenty.  It was a pleasure to get lost in nature away from the daily US news cycle.  Didn't hear a pro or anti Trump story all week.   :)
Missed the down day on Wall Street, oh well.

Still have never landed a Muskie on a fly.  Missed 4 in one day...ugh!
One missed the fly, one cut the leader, and two pit the bit.  Still in search of the first one!

Tried to post a couple of pics.  One of a fish that looked like it had been clawed by an eagle.
Anyway, Mike, thanks for letting me post here and keeping the forum alive.

That looks like a ton of fun. Like the rod rack in the trailer to.
