Tennessee boating registration fees to increase July 1
Any boating vessel operated by a gas engine, electric motor or sail is required to be registered. The increase is in line with the rise of the consumer price index since the last fee increase was made.

Alas, all the evil of the twentieth century is possible everywhere on earth. Yet, I have not given up all hope that human beings and nations may be able, in spite of all, to learn from the experience of other people without having to go through it personally. The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

There are 50 times more paddle craft on the waters than motor boats now. Why not pass this on to them? You know the ones who dump thousands of them into our public rivers everyday for profit....

You aren't going to like this  ;D, but it is my understanding (limited) that boat registrations fees (partially) go towards cleaning up gas from marinas. Since non-powered boats don't use gas, they don't need to pay boat registration.  Electric only boats are the ones that get screwed.  8)   Launch passes are used at some state ramps (like PA) but I doubt anything will be done on the Caney.

What really needs to be done is a capacity study.  Then set reasonable limits based on the carrying capacity; For example--so many commercial rentals, so many private kayak/canoes, so many drift boats etc.  It should also be done per hour, or restrict launch times (commercial launch only for 9-11 am or something). Once limit is hit, no more for the day.
