General Discussion / Just like that

Went out and waded a flat close to the house during lunch today.  I walked half of it and no luck, I got onto some white sand and I could see a school of reds that were just hanging out.  Made many cast, had a handful of them swim to my bait and turn just before eating it.  I changed colors sizes and nothing.  Waded back to my car and saw a group of mullet swimming around.  Made a couple cast and got a thump.  I kept looking, and sure enough another group of reds were mixed in.  Saw one on the outside of the group bounced it in front of him a couple times and he hammered it.  Nice to finally catch a slot red, even nicer to be having redfish on the half shell for Friday dinner.

Hope all the pals are well,
Pal

Went out Thursday and it was awful. Saw three tailing reds and 3 snook.  The red tide was pretty bad the last couple of month.  Funny how 700,000 gallons of crap dumped into the ocean and 4 days later you have red tide.  We need to treat our waters better.

Here’s to being home and it blowing 30 knots,,,,,

General Discussion / red tide this early

Not good news,
We are now experiencing red tide.  This is the earliest I can remember for this kind of bloom.  I walked the beach today and grunts, catfish, and mullet were on the sand.  Snook are starting to make their transition out to the beach, it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the near future.

Onward Pals,
Pal

I'll be there the 10'th so I'll just have to take what I can get. Should be fun exploring Apalatch bay.

The fish will be more willing to bite after the new moon.

New moon in June…. When the love bugs show up off shore.

Tips from one pal to another,

Made it out a couple of nights ago and hit the normal milk run looking for snook.  A good incoming tide was set and light wind was in my future.  I hit close to 50 lights and only 3 docks held fish.  Crazy, normally John’s Pass holds a lot of fish.  This time of year is always hit or miss with the warming of the water.  White bait is starting to show, next thing you know the tarpon will be at the bridges and the snook will be on the beach.

Hope all is well Pals

Looks like a great season, and a bit chilly.

Good luck with those fish, spent way to much time and money chasing them around with a pal on here.

Cheers to the weekend,
Pal

It sure was! And yeah, it's a bad habit. Got another $250 order of plugs coming in the mail and need to work up a couple leaders for the fly rod. My buddy brought me some moose hair from Alaska, wanting to tie a couple flies with it just to say I did.
