Can someone explain the heading "child board"
« on: February 22, 2013, 02:15:49 PM »
I'm a bit confused as to why Dale Hollow, possibly the most humbling body of water in North America, is under a heading of Childs boards? It seems kind of belittling and elitist. You can let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree...

Barking up the wrong tree. Mike did some reorg and in that he grouped certain items to make more sense. The label comes from the software and just references that there is a main level (parent) with other related (child) underneath it.

Thanks for the heads up Steve. Perhaps he should consider another heading. It doesn't sound good to those who are not in the know..

Yo Mama!

Mike,

Thanks for all of your work in keeping this place up.

A suggestion, not criticism, would be that the "Parent/Child" hierarchy isn't necessarily common knowledge.  I think the structure would make more sense to most if the subs were labeled in normal speak.  You know all of this and I may have just reached this in the development stage.

Not that kind of board, thankfully, or I'd be toast.

They only call you Francis when you're not around.

I prefer Nancy.

The front page was too crowded so I reorganized. Child is a built in name for any board that gets combined under a main board, in this case Misc lakes. It's geek speak and it's has nothing to do with a body of water's status. If anyone takes offense to that perhaps they do need to lighten up.

I think the quote from Jonathan should point to the misunderstanding here. It seems that I'm not the only one to not understand and if you had taken as much crap from fly guys as I have over the years, you'd understand too. :)

You've never taken any crap on here Dave. I've seen to it.

I can't defend an entire segment of sportsman and I get tired of trying. I can only say that around here we don't insult people based on how they fish unless they 're asking for it and believe me alot of dickheads come here to do nothing but start shit with fly fishermen. On the other hand we have plenty of members who do nothing but gear fish and we all enjoy their reports and contributions. Only a fool would discount the knowledge some of these guy can contribute that can be utilized by any method.

Nice fish BTW.
