Winner winner fish dinner.
« on: March 26, 2018, 09:35:29 AM »
Got out Sat of a few hours and filled up the cooler with enough to feed us for a few nights. Totaled about 20 White bass and one cat. The white bass were deep and I had to go with a 400 grain to get to them. All but two were females.

I know you guys aren't going to belive me but Jarrod White actually went with me and caught several of them! Crazy right! These ares some of my favorite fish to eat. Always look foward to getting a mess. That said, I don't like to freeze them so I never take more than I can eat in a few days. As long as we all do this these fish can sustain. We witnessed the TWRA having a good day too. They popped at least four people for whatever reason. Couldn't tell what they did, just that they had to stop fishing and go with the nice officer.....  8)

Found a few other goodies this weekend too Dave.
Pheasants Back which I left where it was. It looked old to me but afrer reading about them I think it would have been fine sliced really thin and used in soup.

Then I found a patch of these....  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not sure what these are but they were soft and moist after the rains.

Also I wonder if anyone knows what this is?

Mystery shroom is wood ear fungus. Haven't figured out the flower yet, most of my field guides are boxed up in storage right now. The leaves look like wild geranium, but the flowers don't.

Morels are up, at least at lower elevations on south-facing slopes. Lot of places ought to see a good flush after the rains we're supposed to get this week.
