Couple hours to while away...

and they were very well spent. I was out running errands and couldn't help but swing by the river. Whites, skippies, spots and LMs had microshad corralled against a 150 yard stretch of bank. Bigger flies got ignored, but a wisp of white Farrar blend with a couple of strands of silver krystal flash would get hammered on almost every cast. Cast, swing, kablooey! Nothing huge, but it was still nice getting out on the first lightning-free evening in a while...

That is an amazing fishery.
There is not much collective security in a flock of sheep on the way to the butcher.

Glad you guys are getting some rain.  That tressel and downstream eddy holds some whopper stripers after dark in late Oct and Nov.  I've had some nice trebles straightened out there while in college.
Nice LM!

Nice bass.

What's your usual setup when you fish a big body of water like that?

Normally an 8 or 10 with a sinking shooting head or integrated sinking line, but there were fish busting all over the place last night and nothing looked huge, so I grabbed a 6 and a floater. Not exactly rocket science, and occasionally you'll get surprised. Fun when you're playing around and a big cat or drum starts screaming off downstream!

There was somebody spey casting with a switch rod last night (and rather well!). I should have stopped and said hi but the fish were too much to pass up and he quit before I did.
