April Hybrids and smallies
« on: April 25, 2018, 09:54:04 PM »
Crystal and the kids were in Memphis for over a week, so I did what any Bachelor would do...fish like a Maniac, until complete exhaustion.  Jay joined me both Saturday and Sunday.  We hopped the Crawdad into some less familiar smallie territories, and  I ended the day with a fat prespawn 5 lb fish.  Waters were colder and fish hung out deep, off the shoals.
On Sunday, the clouds stayed low, and we found ourselves on an epic Hybrid topwater bite that started at first light, and kept going until about 11:00. Unreal!  Shad were getting pounded everywhere.  We fished spooks and poppers until the bite died down, then we got them to eat flies for at least a strong 2 hours.  Really Rare, Blessed day to share with my brother.

Hope everyone gets out as the weather and rain stabilizes.

Man I love the hybrids! I miss posting pics but I've decided against it for the most part because of the pressure we have now. I will say that it's been an amazing year so far though! Text inbound. 8)

I wouldn't be able to lift a beer to my lips after a day like that!  Have to use a straw.  Dang.  :)
