A month (or two) of BLISS.
« on: February 14, 2017, 11:31:16 AM »
Well, the season is almost upon us. Soon I’ll be jetting up rivers in search of the White Bass bite,  floating the SUP in search of pre spawn Smallies, and stalking gravel flats in search of Buffalo.  Been going through all the fly boxes and tossing out old used flies and replacing them with new ones and it occurred to me that I haven’t changed many of my patterns much over the years. I fish one fly style for almost every fish I target. The Clouser…. I guess I need to up my game and tie some new fancy smancy flies but I hate sitting at the bench for hours and I go through A LOT of flies. If a hot fly takes me more than say 8 min to tie, I’m going to get tired of tying it real quick. I love flies that work, and that I can crank out. That’s why the clouser is so well received in my boxes. And who could argue its effectiveness. Certainly not me.

White Bass These need to be flashy, and tough as hell. These fish can destroy a fly in one swipe. The fist fly isn't a clouser but it's a killer and durable hell.

You cannot beat a Clouser!  It's simple and will catch fish any where in the world!

I like them all! But spring really makes my senses sing. Sight fishing to smallmouth, pulling rock bass outa the crevices, all while floating a clear,  remote river covered in bright new foliage is about as good as it gets.
