Nothing, not even a smell.

Fished Sat and saw five Musky boated by the entourage of boaters throwing gear (mostly out of staters). The water was pretty stained and the fly got zero love. What I did notice was that at a certain point in the day, around 1 to 1:30 pm central, there was something that turned the fish on big time. The moon rise was at 2:12 pm on Sat, so this could have been the factor... . We saw two fish boated and Dave had one blow up at our boat, but it missed. All this happened within 3 min of each other. That was very interesting to see, and certainly makes me a believer in bite windows... I'll be exploring some new water in the coming days. Hope to learn something new.

I’m sure there were some musky smells without the fish.

In the words of a musky legend...you both just needed to “Suck less”

I just joking, I’ve never been able to hit it right in that stained water.  You’ll be lucky to find the flows fishable in March with the current rain trends.  Atleast the fish won’t get beat up by anglers.

The lunar tides are almost as important as the water tides.  When someone is coming down we try to fish I try to have it all lined up with good lunar and water tides.  I would say that did not happen by chance.

Long strips.

The workie work tides dictates my best fishing.  :P

I fished with my buddy Dr Sheerwood a couple weeks ago. We were both using gear. He had a follow and a hookup that came loose. I had one follow. This was minutes before a massive front come through. I've yet to catch a big Musky on gear. Got two nice ones on the fly...
