Long overdue...
Time well spent with Crystal.  No kids, great food, HotSprings NC tubs within walking distance, and a chance to share my favorite smallmouth water with my lovely lady.

Can’t speak highly enough about how much we enjoyed chilling out at Magnolia Inn Bed and Breakfast.  Y’all should check it out if ever in these mountains.

Guess this is the place you were telling me about? Looks great. Miss the good ole days when we all hung out.

Mike,

Hot Springs is just over the mountain from our home...been camping there for years.  Nice campground, beautiful hikes, and nice warm spring fed hot tubs at the resort.  The French Broad river is nice, but it’s hard to time it for fishing, as it stays muddy most of the time.
This B and B really made it a wonderful stay.

However, the mountains and BR parkway up from Brevard to Cashiers and Highlands is absolutely stunning.  Granite domes, trout streams everywhere, countless waterfalls, and a dense canopy of a temperate rainforest that abounds with growth and life.
The best part is.... nowhere near the crowds of the Smokies.

You can’t go wrong with either place, but my vote is for the higher elevation mountains, near Cashiers.

Can i still see the Last of the Mohicans film crew in the last pictures? ;)

Cant believe you found the river that clear anytime recently with all the rain we have had in August.  And now in earlySept.  Good for you.  Timing is everything for water clarity on those smallie rivers in the mountains. Great report.
