I just got in a couple of the winston boron 2 mx rods . So me and my old timer who loves winston decided to go out and cast the 6 wt . I m not th biggest fan of winston fast action rods but this rod has turned my head . It still has the smoothness a winston is known for but it throws a tight loop with a good amount ofspeed . I don t know if any of yall are winston fans but if you are it is a rod with taking a look at if you like fast action rods .

With the SLT gone from the Sage line I might have to go green (BIIX) if I ever need another 5wt nymph rod. I really liked Caneybuff's BIIX alot!

Go Green ... I have a 4wt and 6wt from the BIIX line ... I think the six is a great rod ... but the 4 is by far my favorite ... casts a great line ... is soft enough for dries ... but enough backbone to punch out small streamers ...

I ve fished the sage zxl (which replaced the slt) rod and I think it will be a big hit with the faithful of the slt series . I ve described the zxl as a dry dropper / dry fly rod that loves to be cast at distances 60 feet and in . I honestly think that the boron 2 x blows it out the water

We're waiting on the mx's, i like the X, it just dosen't have the tip for nymphs/shot that i look for in a rod. I hope Winston finally put a fast action rod togrther & it's not as stiff as the old XTR :o
We're having a blast playing with the Helios, by far the lightest rods being produced according all specs from the catalogs.
Hoping Santa will bring me a 4 weight for Christmas, i was a little disappointed that Winston wasn't offering the mx in a 4, i believe the Helios will work just fine though.
What weight's did you get in the mx countryflyfisher?

We got in the 5 6 and 9 wt MXs . I think I may have sweet talked someone enough to get a demo of the 6 wt so I dont have to buy one with out having the chance to fish it . I was a lil disappointed that they didn t put out a 4 wt in it but that makes my choice on a good 4 wt a lot easier . If I do get that 6 wt demo in quick enough I will have it with me when I hit the caney fork in december if not I ve got a rod I built that will do just fine

cool, we've got a 9 on the way, what do you think about it? I loved the old XTR 9, it wasn't something you wanted to cast all day, it was there when ya needed it though.

I don t know if I love the 9 yet the jurors still out its so hard to beat the 9 wt xi 2 . I believe it will have its place among the winston die hard . I ll have to fish the 9 before I can really say if i like it
