Title: Locked forums
Post by: stillinscrubs on February 06, 2008, 06:13:22 PM
Since I have slayed the troll, Mike please unlock the forums.  It makes lurking at work a lot harder and time consuming for me if I have to log in.

That is all,
Scrubs

I hate to disagree, but one "troll" gone, does not mean to let down your guard.

You know some many people responded positively to locking the Caney board that I think I'd be stepping backwards by unlocking it to guests. However, put it to a vote and majority wins. Fair enough?

LOCK, make them join if they got something to say. IF a person gets out of hand, BAND them, I don't consider myself a "better than you" but in the same token, I don't talk flyfishing to my uncle, he don't care for it, and eats everthing he catches.

I have a heavy athletics / fitness board, I let anyone browse but to post anywhere on the boar d you must be registered. There are a couple forums that you have to ask access to....

Not that I've been around enough lately to even deserve a vote, but if I did deserve a vote, I'd say to keep it as is.

The only ones I know of are the Caney Board and the Striper Board.

On  both of those boards tons of detailed information is shared. I think this site deserves to have the membership grow if they want to get to that info.  I also think people are more likely to share the good stuff if they know it's being read by signed up members.

I hear ya scrubs, but I think it's best for the site and the membership to keep it as is.

Logging in from work can have it's pains. Some companies have very sophisticated software to monitor their employees internet usage and some companies just outright filter, and block, what info comes through their servers. My part-time company does BOTH. They monitor whatever they don't block. My supervisor let's me log on to their server under his name just so I can have access. All the pics from this site are still blocked because of the photobucket accounts thart are hosting the pics.

I digress:  keep it locked. Nothing personal scrubs.

Not that my opinion should count, but I am also in favor of keeping it locked ... I'd kind of like to know my doctor was concentrating on my condition and treatment while he was at work and not daydreaming of trout and stripers  ;D ;D

Also, if the forums are locked to non logged in members....the post bots that invade will not be able to fill up the boards with "get cheap viagera" "lose weight fast" "lonely women for free" blah blah blah.

The day I see any super secret info on any fishing site......give me a break.

I am logging on during lunch etc., while the nurse is taking care of you.  The longer it takes me to log in the longer your life is in the hand of nurse rachet......

I didn't know this til just now when I was looking for her picture - Did you know she was also in The Exorcist II ? Imagine, Linda Blair and Nurse Ratched, both in the same room at the same time.  That could strike the fear into any man!!
