Anybody been to the Obey recently? Since the Caney is blown out right now I am considering other options. Thanks.

Went this past weekend and it was terrible. To much water, no bugs to speak of and the company was terrible.

My father and I were there in early Jan. We caught only 4 fish, a 17in bow, a 15in bow and 2 stockers. Missed a few as well. Seems like the strikes were very spotty. Talked with some other fellow fly fishers on the water, and they were having the same luck.
I have had many better days on that river.

Fished it today... In a word terrible!!! The water is so Low in the upper 4 miles I had to drag the gheenoe DOWNSTREAM. Of course had to drag it back up tonight. The fishing was not better than the water level Midges hatching everywhere, to bad the were about a size 32 creme colored thing. Fiswhing was as tough a s dragging the boat back upstream! Until they start putting some flow out of wolf creek the obey will be tough.

I took LRM up there when he was out of school for Presidents Day. It was cold and raining and them dang midges were everywhere. There is absolutely no flow to the Obey due to the Cumberland being so full.
I actually had to strip a soft hackle to get it to swing. The bbq at the One Stop Market is hard to beat though ;D
Johnson's Hole and the "creek" below the campround were the only places we even hooked up.

These reports are not looking so good. I hope they will get better between now and when I will be up there in a month.

Problem is no water to speak of coming out of wolf creek and the gens at Cordelhull running 7000 plus. The Obey gets almost a suction effect and is dangerously low.
