Title: Got a yellow package in the mail Sat.
Post by: MikeA on February 25, 2008, 07:54:54 AM
I opened it up and pulled out what had to be some of the coolest flies I’ve ever seen. Maniac had sent me a package of several flies to try on the Musky and other fish. All I can say is these are well made flies that are destined to catch fish. Seriously, these things have an action in the water unlike any fly I’ve ever used. I think they might be my new go to fly for several species.

I’m in the process of photographing them right now so as soon as I’m done I’ll put them in the gallery.

Thanks Scott

I could not take a shower for a few days and then come by the shop.  I could give you some flies then.  :D

Hey Mike, glad you like the flies!  Hope you catch some hawgs on them!!

I tie a lot, especially in the winter months.  I don't get to fish as often as I like to anymore due to family & various other things, so I'm glad someone will put these to good use.

I am of the opinion that it's OK to use weird things on a fly rod, and that flyfishing is just a different way of casting.  I think it's OK to throw synthetics, even ones that spin or wiggle.  Some may disagree but that's fine.  I also throw bait occasionally and think that's fine also.  But I think that we fly-fishers are not handicapped, I think that we should be able to, at least sometimes, "compete" or keep up with the spin-fishers if we have the right flies.

I also think that musky can be caught "regularly" (if there is such a thing) on flies.  So I tie a lot of patterns that are similar to what the hardware guys are throwing, except mine are tailored to be thrown on a fly rod.

Hey Grumpy,  PM me your address and I'll send you a batch of musky flies.
