Title: High and murky.
Post by: RonS on April 28, 2008, 08:29:53 PM
We've had a few warm days in a row.

I went to the river this morning hoping to find some activity.

Only found high water and murky conditions. Runnoff is starting.  Picked up one streamer fish and it only measured 15" from a hole that usually hands over 20's pretty regularly.

Went back this evening and found higher water and murkier conditions. Never even strung up.  Wind is up tonight and no bugs on the water. It was either throw streamers or come home and complain to all of you.

I know this is good for the river, but it's not great for the fisherman right now. Dangit.

Ben a nice and warm few days. Tomorrow night a cold front moves in and we're back to snow and freezing. It was a nice taste of spring.

Just venting.

The good news is, this year's runoff is starting a three weeks later than last year. I'm hoping that means our fishing will extend deeper into the summer before things get hot and dry.

Murky.. I know the feeling.  High, I know that feeling too, but it's been awhile.

Sure will be glad when we can wade again, but I'm betting it will be elbow to elbow, yak to yak, and boat to boat out there.  Poor Maggie sits on the floor watching me try to tie a few flies and then gets up to look out the back door at the river.  If I go near my rods or waders she's up wagging her tail and prancing like one of Santa Claus's reindeer.  Then when I turn back, she audilbly sighs, and plops back down to pout.

Life is always good, but it sure is better when we can wade.
