Title: Pickett State Park

We went to Pickett State Park for part of the weekend... they stocked it with trout last week.   I managed to catch a few little bream, but they had to be the smallest fish I have ever managed to catch.   It's probably the prettiest lake I've ever seen.  Here are a few pictures.

Then we went to Fall Creek Falls... I was going to try fishing Cane Creek... but as we were getting camp set up, my wife was bitten by a copperhead and we wound up spending the night in the ER of the Sparta Hospital.  Here's a picture of the bite...

She's getting better, but it's painful and she can't move around much.  Anyways, I got to use the new creek rod that Leo sold me and I can't wait to get back out there and use it again.

So sorry to hear about your wife!  Tell her not to worry much.  My mom got bit a few years ago when she was about 65.  No lingering effects according to her except her change in attitude about snakes.  She used to be very afraid - now she just doesn't like them! 

Leo - he likes them creek rods - and I bet those small perch were still rather fun to catch on the new rod though!

Dang RJ you got tough luck buddy. I hope your wife recovers soon with no affects. The area you were in has a good population of Rattlesnakes so best be glad it wasn't one of them. Of course the Rattlesnakes I've seen were pretty easy going and non aggressive. I've heard them referred to as the gentleman of the woods.

RJ & the wife were by the shop yesterday, she took a lot of ribbing from us & handled it like a champ, guys, you should hear the whole story, thanks RJ for sharing that :o

I fished Pickett Lake for a few hours several years ago, but I didn't have fly tackle along and just spin fished it.  We caught several rainbows and I was surprised to get a few as large as 15 or 16 inches.  I don't know how well they hold over, but the lake is cold and seems pretty deep on the bottom end, so I'd think it has potential to hold some larger fish. 

I'd like to go back some day and give it a closer look, though I've never really had much experience with stillwater fly fishing for trout.
