I'm planning on going up on Wed to check things out on the Elk. Given the last report of water temps and the TVA generation schedule of 1 hour in the AM and 1 hour in the PM, we'll see what the score is...... 8)
It will be interesting to see where all those little browns ended up after my last trip up that way.

A Wednesday report would be great Ralph! We are planning on heading up there Saturday. My husband just got a new 4 wt he's dying to try out!

Rachel;
If the wind isn't up I want to try the pool below the dam. There are some big fish in there... but it takes micges, 60 ft casts, and fine leaders to nail them. I've got a couple rods perfect for the occasion.......... ;D

Hmmm...60 ft casts...count me out! I have always wondered if some big boys hung out up there in that pool. I am anxious to hear how you do!!

The river is beginning to look and act the way it used to years back. Thanks be to God!!!
At 2PM the water temp at "the bend" was 57 degrees. I could see bottom from the dam all the way around the bend.... and it wasn't covered with slime. My silk line would float in the river.
High ambient temp on the river was 81 degrees today.
Fishing was great! I was in the water at 10 AM and left at 4 PM. No chance to fish the main pool below the dam as there was too much wind, so there was always riffle to contend with.
Started at the big log at the end of the gravel... browns are holding BOTH sides of the river... between the end of the gravel and the bend I caught approx. 30+ browns and 1 rainbow. While at the bend and beyond I caught over 10 nice sized rainbow... largest looked to be about 16 inches.
All fish caught on a size 18 greenish soft hackle with glass bead thorax. No need for a strike indicator folks... if you couldn't detect the strikes you had to be asleep.
NOW... if they can just keep things like this we'll be in great shape.

Man, last time I was out there the water quality was horrible, and a 60' cast would've had you catching nothing but rocks & limbs...
