:P Well... they have to happen occasionally... and today was one of those days. Drove up to TN after lunch and checked out Ferris Creek Bridge... I could see absolutely no activity, so I figured I might as well head up to the bridge. The usual collection of old farts and red necks, and one of our contributers was coming off the river with his little boat. He said that he'd put in at Ferris Creek Br. earlier and it had been a waste of time. So he had come up to the dam and fished below the bend.
I fished from about 4 till 7 and managed about 7 or 8 fish... there just wasn't much activity on top at all. As I was leaving another gentleman mentioned that he had done well on a copper john... so the fish must have been staying down and feeding off the bottom. Lesson well learned.

Ralph,
I have been trying to learn that lesson myself lately.
No two days are alike and sometimes I find that I am too slow to try something other than "what worked last time".
But, I am learning.
Thanks for your report.

And the problem with that is that on the previous Thursday a bamboo nut that just moved into Chattanooga met me on the Elk... and what was he doing to finish off his day????? Standing beside the "riffle" high sticking a nymph throught the water without ever getting his feet wet. And yes, the sorry SOB caught a couple nice fish that way.
I really do need to pay better attention.
