Title: Playing with da G
Post by: Leo deMonbreun on March 29, 2010, 06:31:31 PM
It's too fast, too quiet, too heavy, too sharp and too damned expensive but I sure do like it.  I am not so sure that there are better colors to be had with that Beercan though!!

Leo I think you lost some color on #1 because of noise. IMO the G's color rendition is on par with any lens on the market.

Yeah I know I did, I was shooting at 400 ISO and when I cropped it, it got noisy.  If I had run it through photo studio I could have fixed that pretty easily but I just used Picasa

...actually it was at 800  ISO

Filename: DSC02653.JPG
Camera: SONY
Model: DSLR-A100
ISO: 800
Exposure: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 250mm

He was bitchin because I wouldn't take them out!!  I have seen the squirrles hold on to that nail when they look over the side of the rail down at the feeding stand.

I would say ISO 800 on A100 is really pushing it. I was never satisfied over 400, and not 100% happy  unless it was 100.  My .02

Yeah I agree, at 800 it is really pushing the envelope and if you do shoot at 800 iso, better not crop or you lose detail.  400 is pretty much the high limit and works pretty good if you like to shoot low key shots, in somewhat dimly lit settings.  Thass why I was playing with that nice G Lens.  seeing what it would do.
