Title: Big Brown
Post by: Elk RiverRat on February 15, 2011, 10:08:44 PM
Hey everybody. I just joined up here, been lurking around for awhile. I'm from Fayetteville and the Elk is my home river. I spend most of my weekends of the summer months fishing for big smallies or drifting for big browns up at the tailwaters. I saw a post on down the list regarding the  shocking survey of the trout population, and I would like to share a pic of a BIG brown that my father caught last summer. There are some big trout in the Elk's tailwaters and this is proof of it. Notice in the pic he is not holding it out and the tail is pretty much under his arm. We estimated it to be in the 9lb range. Thanks and enjoy.

Very nice! I have fished the elk for smallies only once. Caught several red eyes and a couple of bronze backs. What fun! Not very good at it, but flogging water is always a good time.
