You went all out with that rod selection. ;D

Great varnish work! I usually just cut my own.....
-
I cut my own too. A little whippy on the back cast, but not that much line out to worry about! ;D
-
I thought Tenkara was some type of sauce that goes on a sushi roll. ;D
-
Back in the old days, we used to cut our own down on Sycamore Creek. Good thing was the price. ::)

Are those the new Sage cane poles? They are $700 but I read on the Internet that they are much more "sensitive" than the cheap ones. :D

A cane pole was what turned me onto fish'n, when I was about 10 or so me and a school buddy was ride'n our bicycles when we past a old home place and we done ok untill we seen the barn then decided to investagate, we found sevral old cane poles around back, after that we thought we'd just go fish'n.
After a quik ride back into town for bait, fresh line & a pak of eagle claw hooks we were set, his uncle lived had a little camper set up at a rock quarry that had flooded years ago, we had plenty of shade trees, a comfortable bank to fish from & and cane poles, everything a kid needs to go fish'n.
The first day we caught 2 stringers full of blue gill, we spent the entire evenin learnin how to clean fish...sorta, I bet a dump truck couldnt haul the blue gill we caught ther over the summer, we eventually bought us a rod & reel with money we earned mow'n yards and pick'n up drank bottles but a cane pole started it all for me & I still like play'n with'm if I can fine a shade tree and some blue gill.

That is what I grew up fishing down below the Cheatam Dam at my grandparents house. A lot of fun memories.
-
My grandparents used to take me to Reelfoot & Midway AR to fish for crappie and bluegill. We used
cane poles Tenkura way back then. Wouldn't mind doing that again. That picture brings back some real good memories.

What string do you all use on your tenkara rods and what is the best knot to use when attaching to the pole?
-
I use a granny knot to attach everything. :D It's important to not forget to run your 30# through the bobber first!
-
Mike, you are a bona fide pantyhose wearing sissy if you don't catch a muskie on one of those poles. There, yeah, I said it.

By gosh I think your onto something. Next time I get a lazy follower to the boat I'll have a sharpened Bamboo rod at the ready. If the Musky doesn't eat I'll spear it as it swims away.
-
Now we're talking a type of muskie fishing I can get a handle on. That will teach those s.o.b.'s not to bite. I think it's high time we weeded the "followers" out of the gene pool!!!!

Here is a great video showing the advantages of the Tenkara when it comes to playing and landing a trout:
