Yoda and I were out in Musky country yesterday in a trib off of the main lake. We had fished hard in windy conditions and he tells me it's time for some of his homemade Chili. Hell yes, this guy knows how to go fishing I'm thinking. He proceeds to get out the chili Sour cream, shreded cheese and some crackers. Did I mention that this guy knows how to prepare for a fishing trip? As we're making our bowl he throws a few shreds of cheese over the side and says, Musky Chum. About a min later in the front of the boat something giant in the water is disturbed and makes a tremendous boil. The look we must have had on our faces would have been priceless. For the rest of the trip all I could think about was, should I ask him if it'd be alright to put my fly in the bag of cheese. I never did.
We did move two other fish but no hook ups or eats or even serious follows.

My largest TN muskie viewing was due to cheese. Totally forgot about it till your story. About 20 years ago while whitewater kayaking a plateau streams, stopped to eat some lunch in a calmer area with flat rocks. Buddy flips a piece of cheese that he used to scrape the excessive mayo off his sandwich (got to love gas station sandwiches :D). When the cheese floated to within about 5 feet of his feet (water was warmer than the air that rainy spring day) a big ol tooth river gator came up and ate the cheese and splashed us with its tail. Shocked us both. My buddy tried to chum it up again, to no avail.

We fished two locations yesterday. One is very familiar and one not so much. I try to refrain from naming places here Corey.

Well there you go I'd say that confirms it. I'll be carrying cheese whiz in my Musky bag from now on.
