Fished a section of river that gets less attention due to the distance between put ins and take outs. It was a weird day. Smallies were chasing the biggest flies but would not commit. We threw the small stuff at them and they wouldn't even look at them. I'm sure that a large jerkbait would have absolutely slayed those fish but neither of us brought any gear.
Still we managed to get some nice Bass.

The Smallies were there and I suspect a little more warm temps will make them alot more hungry. We floated from 9am to about 6pm in fast, and rough in a few places, river. Finally we ran into civilization and some struck up a conversation with some guy working on his dock. When he heard where we put in he asked how we planned to get back to the truck. We said we're running back. He laughed at us and said he'd be glad to give us a ride. We insisted we could make it, but thanked him for the kind offer. He gave us the "well,,,,, good luck",, and waved us on. :D
We had to run back in pretty low light which makes reading the water a bitch if you don't know where you are. We managed to make it back with time to spare. Even had time for Dave to get one last fish right as the black settled over the green river. I'm loving this new lens!!

Nice bass! That largemouth is a great looking fish.

He was a dandy. I was wearing my lucky shirt that still smells like fish slime from the big Rainbow. Can't seem to get rid of that smell. Not that I'd want to. ;D

Nice fish and great pics - yeah, that lens has some nice mojo to it!
Mike, are you holding a Largemouth or a Spotted Bass?
-
Just think how many you would have caught if you had brought some creek minnows.

You lucky bass turds!
Nice fish guys. I'm sure the fish slime is like potpourri compared to the Mike Anderson aroma on the lucky shirt.
Looking forward to the steelies.

I didn't check Todd but I've caught some large spots here in the past.
BD it would have been pretty awesome.
Travis I hope it works out. This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile now but didn't want to have to fish with a guide.

Awesome fishes & pics guys...way to go!!

I don't think that fish was a spot, but that's just based on gestalt. Heck of a nice fish, though.
Thanks again Mike, it was pretty good fish-wise and a beautiful day to be out!

Excellent work and some very nice pictures to boot.
Good luck on your trip up North!

DAMN............ :o...............I can't wait until the water clears you around here!

Loved that last low light picture of the small mouth. Looks like a Tennessee fishing ad magazine picture.

I've heard all comments about holding fish up close to the lens to make it look bigger. I'll address that here a little bit.
I enjoy my photography hobby as much as I do fishing. The real purpose for holding the fish away from the fisherman is to give the image depth, and subject separation. Make the subject (fish) "pop" out of the image. That last image is a great example of this effect. It's much easier with fast glass which is why I purchased this new lens. If your gonna stress a fish long enough to take his pic at least try to do it right!
