Title: Tough day!
Post by: MikeA on February 01, 2014, 08:40:40 PM
We fished the Piney Fork today hoping to find some new untouched Musky water and I just knew it was going to be epic, and it was. Only boated one small Musky on the fly, and had a couple missed hooksets that should have been a fish...  and a few very sizable follows. Best part was that I got to spend about 8 hours outdoors in the warm sunshine doing what I love.

I'm getting my arm and legs prepared for SUP season which isn't far away. I can't wait to hit Cripple Creek river for Smallmouth again this year. It was banner last year!

This morning I noticed a nice deep cut all the way around my finger that I never even felt yesterday. There is no safe way to remove the fly from these fish with bare hands, period. They literally have a mouth full of razor blades.

This morning I noticed a nice deep cut all the way around my finger that I never even felt yesterday.

Most of the time when I do that it's on the palatine teeth -- the pair of big tooth patches in the roof of the mouth. It's easy to forget about those... Guess I have to add those Lindy gloves to the "to order" list.

Man, I hate the drive up to the Piney -- too dang long. I had almost decided on doing it again today, but was issued a list of chores first thing this morning...   :(

You'd think I'd learn. To me it's always just been part of the deal. If the fish gets you, they get you. A fair fight so to speak. No more.

Can you imagine what a 40 pound fish would do if it got your hand in it's mouth and started rolling! Your new nickname would be Hamburger hand.

Those kind of cuts are the worst. Those are the one's I generally end up touching it with with salt or alcohol and quickly get made aware of the open wound.  :(

Must not have talked to him long. His name is Chris not Scott.

Great pics as usual Mike.
