Title: Birds of TN.
Post by: MikeA on March 10, 2014, 11:08:04 PM
A collection of birds of TN. I'll be adding to this as I get them.  ;D I'm not going to do a lot of editing on these.
Downy Woodpecker

Thanks!

I got lucky to be part of this shot. The young Hawk was so hungry that he didn't mind my presence at all. That's the closest I've been to a wild RTH and it was very cool!

Yea I was pretty unsure how he was going to react to me and yes I was nervous. Cant get the shot if you're scared,, and that's why I don't have some really close up Black Bear shots!  :o

This huge Redtail Hawk stopped today by to check things out. There was too much brush and air between us to get a good capture. Still cool to watch him watching me.

Some gorgeous shots Mike. I have an owl in the neighborhood, just trying to figure out where he lives, seen him in the same tree multiple times, a big fella, once I narrow it down, I will let you know.

Couldn't agree more on the Bluejays.

I think your right they are BWT's.

Thanks for the compliments! It's one of the things that makes life better IMO. It's alot like fishing. Some of these guys are hard to get close to so it is challenging. I get to be in the outdoors being part of the natural world. At the end of the day if I did everything right I get a good picture of my trophy.

Awesome sunset in Cades Cove. I hiked alot of miles off trail in the Cove last weekend. Learned alot about the wildlife that inhabit the place. I also met a photog that I'll call the Bear man of Cades Cove. We hit it off right off the bat. I think its safe to say we'll be doing some Bear trips in the coming months. Should be exciting!

Really amazing shots, Mike.  Thanks for sharing.

I can't believe the colors on those turkeys.

Growing up, we used to see meadowlarks everywhere. Now they seem to be few and far between.
My best bird sighting this winter was a crested kinglet.
Nice seeing your images.

Squirrel taking over a really nice Northern Flicker home. Notice the organic awning over the front door.

Gray Vireo (I think)
We were trying to hide on a ridge overlooking two valleys in the park when this guy discovered us. He might be tiny but he's got a set of lungs!

Keep an eye out for white throated sparrows....... they are in the Nashville area.

So that owl I spotted, he has been in hiding. I will keep monitoring.

I have had a red tail hawk hanging out between my house and my neighbors, but he doesn't stick around long enough for me to get my camera out.
