Title: Walleye dinner
Post by: TWiles on April 06, 2015, 03:27:58 PM
Just caught one keeper, another too small, and a couple lost hookups.  Still a fun way to spend a spotty rain/cloud/bright moon Thursday night.

Gotta love those walleye cheeks---firm, translucent meat that tastes just like scallops:

This fat 24" fish was enough to feed 4 adults.  Breelyn, Crystal, and I ate every bit.  I've been cooking them different ways, but man, this sure works well:  dip all fillets in egg, half breaded with OldBay and flour or cornmeal....the other half just dipped in blackened seasoning, and fry all fillets in hot peanut oil.  Cooks all to perfection, without the smoke and carbon from true blackening.

Got another month and a half of chances to catch these guys shallow.

Tasteee for certain, love the picture of the stringer and the bike.  Very reminiscent of when I was growing up.
