New season smallies
« on: April 28, 2009, 08:56:07 PM »
Action is starting to heat up; I've been out a few times this spring fortunately.

Back in late March, we did a couple of floats - on this one, my son Jack was with me; he caught his first largemouth and I was fortunate enough to be able to assist with the net.

He got a little instruction from a buddy of mine...

After that, he was done with the pole and he played his video game the rest of the way...that was, until I offered a guide tip for his manning the anchor and the oars in some slack water...

...where he did put me on some fish!

April 3rd, another friend and I caught about 30 fish or so this afternoon, all on spinning gear, primarily black and blue jig'n'pig....

Then earlier today for a couple hours, on flyrod topwater - three decent ones (3-4lbers) caught on wiggle minnow, popper, slider-type:

They'll be off the beds in a couple weeks and then look out!

SaaaWeeeet! I may get out on the location X river this weekend...
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Hope you get to!  Here's also hoping for about 24 hrs between any fierce weather and your fishing it - the fish oughta go nuts.
