If it is not raining in the morning, but threatening rain (as is forecast), then it will be on fire until the rain starts or until about 10am.

Anybody taking any water temps while they are out and about? Curious to know what's going on.

A lot of streams I am fishing are consistently above 50 degrees now, but barely.  And I have measured some over 60 during that time period when it warmed up.

Here is the West Fork Stones USGS graph, which has a temp gage on it:

Oh my... It's closer than I thought. I cancelled my vacation for next week thinking it was gonna be too cold, with highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's.

Thanks for the quick responses and the gauge link with temps.

There are several other rivers with temp gages on the USGS site, so you might be able to get more area-specific...

Snazzy gauge with all those parameters!  We're lucky to have cfs and overall height 'round here...

Here is the current list of Temp gages in TN:

Don't put too much emphasis on temp, photoperiod can be a motivator too.

Hah!  I was back on my fast-action graphite throwing tailing loops like a mad man for the first 10 minutes!

Ok - stopped off at a little feeder creek on the way home that is a short little hike from the roadway.  I tied on a little black zonker and Phi Slamma Jamma!  I probably nailed about 15 fish out of a 300 yard run.  All of them smallish, but I was able to see almost every take and I was sight-casting to about half the fish I caught.

I tied on a bigger crawfish fly to hit a deep pool and I nailed a monster.  He was a little much for my 4wt. and I tried 3 times to hoist him out of the pool into shallow water and on the 3rd try he went vertical and spit the hook.  It was an 18" - 20" bass easy.  I am going back to get him in the morning!

Mmmmm....  Tastyyyyy.....
