Good, Better, Best
« on: October 31, 2010, 09:38:02 PM »

Crystal and I LOVE a good Octoberfest beer, and this weekend, we had the chance to sample a few.  Sam Adams is our Gold Standard...which is great.
Highland Clawhammer Octoberfest from Asheville NC is damn good, but it's hard to find.
At the small store in Hot Springs, Crystal found some of Sweetwater's Motor Boat.
WOW!
This stuff was great.  Full-bodied, hoppy, smooth...buy some if you can find it.

I like Sam Adams October, it's a little sweet for me.  I hope to find some Motor Boat here in the Boro.

I was disappointed with SA Oct.  Can't really put my finger on it, but it was not as it should be IMO.

I have been pleasantly surprised at the Shiner Octoberfest (Marzen style), at $1.50 cheaper than the SA Oct.

I like Sweetwater's IPA, 420 ExtraPaleAle, and Georgia Brown. Enough so, it is hard to try some of their other stuff.  I'll pick up a 6ers of motorboat, as it is seasonal (I did not realize that) and I can get the other three year around.

Octoberfest if good. I like New Belgium Hoptober (apples to oranges).

Really like the Sweetwater beers. All I have tried so far have been really good.

Stones River in the 'boro has the Sweetwater Motorboat.  Its definitely an excelling seasonal.

Now, if there's a beer to try, I've got a highly prized local brew (so local, in fact, it's brewed in the closet of my washroom.)

I bottled this batch last weekend.

oooooohhhhhh soooooo gooooood

It's time again.  I'll be starting another batch this week.
