Kennebunkport IPA (Trader Joe's)
« on: January 09, 2011, 03:37:15 PM »
From Trader Joe's - this is a really nice IPA for only $5.99/six pack.  It is not quite as hoppy as some IPA's, so it comes off as a little sweeter and slightly citric, but for a buck a bottle, this is a really great beer that stands up to IPA's that sell for $8.99/six pack or more.  It is brewed by Shipyard Brewing Company of Portland, Maine, and also sold as Sea Dog Old East India Pale Ale in some markets.  Good stuff!

looked it up on beeradvocate (mainly cause I wanted to know) but SeaDog is 6.2 abv and ipu is unknown.

I stocked up before the snow/ice and picked up a new to me IPA (Bridgeport), which is bottled conditioned.  Only had one (last night) but it was pretty smooth with a fair amount of hops, but not super hoppy (which I also like).

Yeah, the Bridgeport is nice.  If you want hops the Dogfish Head 60 minute or 90 minute are your beers for sure.  The Sam Adams IPA is pretty good, but a bit "dry" to me.  I wish they sold the O'Dells around here, it is amazing.  I bought a case of the Kennebunkport, so I am set for a while...

For you and me that would be about half a day, if we were fishing.  ;D

Hah!  Gotta rotate the case into my stock in the beer fridge - don't wanna drink the same stuff every night!  My buddy in Spring Hill just delivered 2 cases + a pony keg of homebrew last weekend, so now I need to get thirsty!

Speaking of homebrew, I just racked a Cream Stout I started lasted week.  It'll stay in the secondary for another week and then we bottle.  5 gallons of great stuff.
Fish on!
