BAD SHOT--Before, During, After
« on: January 10, 2012, 09:35:35 PM »
My in-law Uncle Peter is a frequent international traveler.  His liquor cabinet is filled with rare spirits from all corners of the globe.  When we go to California, we all wind up with hangovers trying to keep up on the" world tour" shot for shot with this  German connoisseur.  (Kinda like trying to keep up with Kyle)

When he poured out this Asian liquor, I decided to pass when I heard his expression of it being a test of manhood.
Everyone who tried it described the flavour and aroma of being similar to kerosene and sweaty gym socks!

Bottom's up.

sounds like Chinese baijo. Good stuff/awful stuff, both in the same bottle.

With a name like baijo it has to be good.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Looks like fun times.

I have cousin's from Curacao and Ron would always bring up a dutch liqueur called Pisang Ambon. It was only 40 proof but had a strong banana flavor trailed by some tropical fruit. Really good on the rocks and it was like a mixed drink minus the mixers.

I've got a client that does a lot of business in Asia that has told me about how rough this stuff is...and these are guys that like to drink! My understanding is that it's kind've akin to a blend of gasoline and kerosene and they've sworn it off except when in situations with new business contacts where their hosts would be offended.  It looks like I might be spending some extended time in that part of the world in the future and I'm NOT looking forward to this ritual!!!
