New Belgium, to me are getting to large, most of their stuff taste mass produced, as I say about Quick Mart brew, has chemical taste, but I'm not a Lager person. But will have to say this one you posted about is great stuff from them.

I haven't tried it yet.  The Hoptoberfest of past years was always a favorite of mine.  From the name this year it sounds like they changed it from a golden ale to a red.  Is this the case?  Either way, I should sample one or a few.

At one point in time I considered myself a serious hop head.  I prefer to drink more malt heavy beers now. that being said, I really really enjoyed this beverage. The hop finish is extraordinary. Very very smooth with a slight tart ending from the hops.

Seems to me over the past several years, hoppy beers have gotten less hoppy.  Redhoptober is almost hoppy enough for me.  And the true hop-monster beers have shrunk their distrubution, imo.  Where is my SN Bigfoot? Victory Hopdevil, Dogfishhead 120. Heck I can't even find anything hoppy by Bells (Hopslam), Bear Republic, or other Cali/Pacific NW breweries.  I am living in hop-free zone. :-X

Pretty good beer, but during these cooler evenings I'm enjoying another beer from New Belgium it's 1554. My wife and I used to not be a fan of hops, but it's starting to grow on us.

Bfish - Have you tried the Stone IPA's (esp. the Ruination IPA).  Also, the Sierra Nevada High Gravity IPA is pretty good.  And get to Blackstone while they have the Wet Hop IPA on tap.

I do wish Dogfishhead still sold here.  I miss the 60 & 90 minute IPA's - the 120 took too much sipping, I couldn't really "drink" it.

Yes I enjoy stone's and those big bottles will not your socks off, sort of like the 120 does. I guess I could share or save some for later, but naw. ???  I am about 2.5 hours away from Blackstone so sampling their wares isn't in the cards.

I've grown fond of Yazoo's Hop Project this past summer.  If you like hoppy beers it's the ticket!

Todd, I'm almost certain I can get the dogfishhead here in the 'boro.  I'll let you know what I find out.

Just to clarify, the Red October has plenty of hops on the front end, but it quickly fades away, ie no lingering taste of hops.

Toddro, tried the Yazoo Hop Project, it is good.  Going to try a few more soon. :D  Hops seemed to linger nicely but had something unusual about the aftertaste, maybe a touch of pepper-like taste???

Negative ghost rider. They aren't distributing this far South right now due to demand. If you find any, it is RARE!

Yeah, Dogfish stopped shipping to TN distributors last year, so if you do find some, it is either really old, or a driver got really lost...   :o

Here is their statement from their website posted about this time last year:

So it is bittersweet for us to announce that we are pulling out of, or limiting some of our core beers from, a number of states. Yes this sucks. The glass-half-full view is that we (and a handful of other U.S. craft breweries making similar moves) have to do this because your numbers the number of U.S. drinkers buying and enjoying craft beer - are growing so quickly! We sincerely apologize for any frustrations this may cause distributors, retailers, and beer lovers who are affected by our decision. This decision will allow us to still get many different, exotic, Dogfish specialty and seasonal beers into our slightly smaller footprint. It will also ensure that more cases and kegs of our core, year-round beers will be available closer to home. The distributors in the states we are pulling distribution from (Tennessee, Indiana, Wisconsin and Rhode Island) have already been notified of our decision. If your favorite pubs and beer outlets are no longer able to obtain Dogfish products, we are sorry that we are no longer able to supply them. Thanks for understanding and we are hopeful for your ongoing support.
Cheers.

The way our alcohol distribution system is rigged up really hurts us.  Not many breweries are excited about signing an exclusive contract with one distributor... Especially when those distributors are mostly concerned with Jack, Jim, and George (and BMC).

Anytime I head the the great North state just east of us, I come back with a lot of beer!
